MetaMask releases a new version of Ethereum wallet, focusing on privacy features

According to a report by Decrypt in early July, the popular Ethereum wallet MetaMask has released an update of its new version, focusing on privacy and encryption technologies.

The MetaMask wallet runs through browser extensions (plug-ins), allowing users to store Ethereum and other ERC-20 tokens. MetaMask recently announced the new features of its eighth version. These changes include not only an up-to-date “comfortable user interface” (UI), but also “excellent privacy control” when users connect to the site.

Today we started rolling out a big version update: the eighth version of MetaMask!

To use MetaMask, users need to connect to Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Brave browsers. After installation, operate on the browser to send the transaction to any Ethereum address.

But the wallet connected to the browser will expose the user’s account to all connected websites. The new version of MetaMask wallet allows users to “decide what content each linked website can access”.

Dan Finlay, the developer of MetaMask, wrote in the statement:

This new feature allows you to easily switch between multiple accounts, so you can choose to control which accounts are allowed to interact with different websites on a decentralized network.

A new encryption tool is also included in the update. The toolkit allows websites to encrypt and decrypt information for Web3 users. Those who use MetaMask if they want to send “important messages” can use MetaMask to encrypt the information.

The new version of MetaMask is also dedicated to helping more users use Web3. Finlay pointed out in his post that his team received feedback from application developers that the experience of new users connecting through a MetaMask account was “poor.” In fact, some developers try to solve this problem directly by creating new tools. For example, Audius’ Hedgehog aims to optimize this process.

As a gateway to the Ethereum Dapp ecosystem, MetaMask now wants to alleviate this headache. Its wallet update includes an onboarding library, which ultimately allows users to enjoy a seamless experience on Web3 applications.

The security of the MetaMask platform has also been updated. We also have a major announcement for fans who are concerned about JavaScript security: LavaMoat comes into play in its first application, anyone can try it! Protect you from supply chain attacks!

Another thing that pleases MetaMask fans is that we have added a decryption method! Dapps can now receive the privacy information of MetaMask accounts.

MetaMask, built on JavaScript coding language, has now built LavaMoat into a new wallet. LavaMoat is a set of tools designed to prevent cyber attacks. Projects built on the Ethereum blockchain are generally more prone to security issues and vulnerabilities.

With a series of new features, MetaMask can interact with the Ethereum blockchain as easily as possible.
